Safe Antibiotics :
- Amoxicillin - Animal studies using 10 times the human dose have failed to reveal any evidence of teratogenicity. Although no controlled data in human pregnancy are available Dose- According to weight and age of patient every 12 hours for twice-daily doses or every 8 hours for thrice-daily dosing
- Cephalosporins
- Erythromycin
- Azithromycin
- Clindamycin
- Miconazole
- Clotrimazole
Unsafe Antibiotics
- Tetracycline -Unsafe at any time.
- Metronidazole-Unsafe for the first 14 weeks - safe after 14 days. avoid single-dose therapy.
- Aminoglycoside- Usually safe but renal and ototoxicity may cause a problem if high dose and prolonged.
- Chloramhenicol- Unsafe after 28 week
- Sulfa Drugs- Unsafe after 34 week
- Primaquine- may cause hemolytic anemia in G6PD deficiency
